Encore Fractionated Laser Skin Resurfacing

unnamed-3The use of a minimally invasive surgical procedure (Encore laser) is found to reverse the visible signs of aging. The Encore fractionated laser utilizes advanced technology to smooth, soften and tone the facial skin. A highly focused beam of light is precisely passed over damaged skin. The outer layer of skin is removed while the deeper layer, called the dermis, is simultaneously heated. Collagen growth is stimulated. Full face or individual areas such as around the mouth or under the eyes can be treated. This state-of-the-art technology allows quick healing and minimization of risk. Most individuals are back to regular activities within a week and the results achieved are long lasting with benefits persisting for a year and longer. However, aging continues and the procedure can be repeated. The fractionated laser is the ideal treatment for fine lines, wrinkles, scars and other skin irregularities such as freckles, age spots and enlarged oil glands. Sun damaged skin and a mottled complexion respond well to this therapy. A visible improvement occurs and an ageless look achieved.

Why Get a Breast Reduction

Reduction mammoplasty is performed on women with excessively large and hanging breasts. Macromastia produces a negative physical and psychological impact that interferes with the full enjoyment of life. Common findings in these patients include ridging of the shoulders, infections of the skin on the undersurface of the breasts and upper abdomen, poor posture, difficulty buying appropriate clothing, shoulder, neck and back pain. Self-examination and evaluation of the enlarged breasts by the patient’s doctor is often compromised because of the massive amount of breast tissue present. It is fact that the enlarged breast may interfere with the early diagnosis of breast cancer both on the personal and professional physical examination and through mammography. Preventive medicine encourages the patient with this condition to consider breast reduction surgery. Prophylactic breast reduction surgery is well documented in the medical literature. The risk of breast cancer development is significantly reduced, by as much as 50% in breast reduction surgery patients. At the time of the operation, a portion of breast tissue, fat and overlying skin are removed and a new smaller, and well-positioned breast and areola result. The surgery is often performed as an outpatient under general anesthesia. Post-operative exercise and strenuous activities are limited for a brief period of time. Patient satisfaction produces an improved body image. Enhanced self esteem and physical comfort are experienced. Breast reduction surgery can be done at any age, from the teen years through one’s seventies or older. While teenagers who have excessively large breast may be candidates, surgery can only be performed after the breasts have finished developing. Although breast reduction is most often performed on women, a type of breast reduction surgery is available for men who suffer from enlarged male breasts, a condition known as gynecomastia. If you haven’t started a family or your family isn’t yet complete, you might postpone breast reduction surgery until pregnancy isn’t an issue. Changes to breast tissue during pregnancy could affect your surgical results and breastfeeding might be challenging. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, over 90,000 breast reduction surgeries were performed last year on women and approximately 20,000 on men. At the time of your consultation, Dr. Moynahan will listen to your concerns and help in achieving your goal of choosing a breast size that is best for you.

Ageless Through Volumizers and Dermal Fillers

Choices exist to reverse an aged appearance upon the face. Volumizers and dermal fillers are not a substitute for a facelift. However, through the use of volumizers and fillers, improvement in facial appearance is noted. Youthful contours of the face are lost with aging. Supportive tissue beneath the skin shrinks and is displaced. Hollowing of the cheeks and sagging of the jawline occur. However, through a minimally invasive approach, the youthful profile of the face is restored and deep lines and folds are softened. Restoration of soft tissue volume, recreates a more youthful and rested look. A variety of fillers exist. There is an optimal approach for you. The Doctor Answers

Dear Dr. Moynahan, I am 32 have had 3 children and do not intend to have anymore. I eat a proper diet and exercise but the pregnancies and breastfeeding have taken a toll on my breasts and tummy. My breasts are non- existent , I lost two cup sizes and my belly is a jelly belly. A few friends of mine who are patients of yours have had their breasts lifted and made larger and their tummies tightened. Is this for me? Answer: What you describe is commonly experienced following childbirth. A tummy tuck done alone or together with breast augmentation or a breast lift, make a popular “Mommy Makeover’ surgery. The breasts can be lifted and restored, the excess skin of the abdominal wall removed and the muscles tightened.
